so i was doing some research for a creative writing project, and behold! the answer to the biggest mystery of the modern age was right there, staring me in the face.
Long ago, the knights templar was formed as a religious/military order of knighthood - ostensibly to protect pilgrims in their travels to jerusalem. But! i tell you, they had a more sinister purpose.
It is well known that the templars once excavated sites under the temple-mount - the former location of solomon's, zerubable, and herod's temples. But for what were they excavating? Many suppose it was for some treasure. Some propose they were looking for the holy grail or the ark of the covenant.
But! I say they are wrong. The holy grail was just a cup; there was no blood line of Christ, and the ark of the covenant was most likely destroyed during the babylonian captivity of Judah. What then, did they hope to find?
Suppose that during the christian crusader kingdoms, the knights templar found, interrogated, and tortured certain middle eastern mystics. Supposing through their interrogations, they learned of something that promised power and dominion over men?
So what did they find? THE NECRONOMICON, THAT'S WHAT!
What was the necronomicon doing buried under the temple mount, you ask? Why it was brought by king solomon. It is widely known and reported in the bible that solomon took many wives, many of which were from neighboring pagan nations. one of his wives told him rumors of the book, and he commissioned a copy from one of his contemporaries.
Finding the book, they returned to europe and secretly reorganized their order for worship of the old ones. Indeed, they did become powerful. Too powerful, because Phillip the Fair of France was in debt to them, and looked for an easy way to get rid of them. So eventually he had them arrested and interrogated. He charges them with heresy (due to old one worship). Some of the knights manage to escape to scotland, where they seemingly go dormant.
So the free masons eventually form from the ancestors (figuratively and literally) of the hidden/underground knights templar. Their myths and rituals bear a striking resemblance to practices required for old one worship. However, as we all know, the true purpose of the organization is hidden from all but the highest ranking members (like scientology).
So, the free masons are trying to take over the world, based on power gained from worshiping the old ones. They hope one day soon that they can establish their so-called "new order of the ages."
and there you have it
YOG-SOTHOTH! Iä! Iä! Cthulhu F'tagn!

that's right, folks, i'm here all night.
here is the bedroom that was: dark, dank, horrible 70's paneling and icky carpet: As you know, that awful paneling is filled with shallow vertical grooves, for some reason. my choice was rip the paneling out, and then if the plaster underneath was in bad shape, it would suck. what to do? ( how to get rid of that awful paneling without tearing out your walls ) Thu, Jan. 7th, 2010, 06:33 pm I CAN HAS

So the family got a Wii for christmas. Along with it, they got this game, Wii Sports Resort. Among other options, there is a kind of kendo-like sword fighting game.
It has options for a one-on-one duel, a speed-slice contest, and a showdown, where you basically have to face tons of digital opponents.
I was surprised and amazed at the realism this game offers. Because you can use the remote, it follows whatever you do. So you are free to either flail around like an idiot, or actually put your mad skillz to use.
You can execute all of the basic 8 cuts: + & x rising and falling. You an also guard and perform all of the basic parries. You actually have to angle your sword to intercept the incoming attack. you can’t just press a button and have it guard for you.
Unfortunately, there is no thrusting, but if all you can do is execute a hanging parry and counter-attack with a zornhau (japanese equivalent??), you can CLEAN FUCKING HOUSE. That’s right, bitches: epic, unholy slaughter.
Although the game recommends you gripp the wiimote like a katana, with two hands, i had great success wielding it one-handed like an arming sword. i think that allows you to attack must faster, executing your cuts from the wrist. The game controls the footwork automatically, but i would recommend getting into a real stance. i found the right-leg forward, arming sword-equivalent of ochs worked quite well.
if anyone else has played this game, please chime in. Also, if you know of any other good wii swording games, please let me know. Mon, Jan. 4th, 2010, 07:32 am a new record

it's one way to get the mold off Mon, Nov. 30th, 2009, 07:06 am holiday wrap-up
so the thanksgiving weekend was pretty good.
i was able to avoid turkey *and* football, which is pretty awesome. instead of traditional, we did this low-country shrimp boil thing. it's pretty excellent.
Friday i started working on remodeling the bedroom, and then went to night vision.
Saturday an old friend came over, and we went shooting to test out the new AR-15 he built. after that we went antique shopping and picked up a 12 piece silver plate wine goblet set that we split up. it was pretty awesome.
sunday was tainted with the stench of football. i suppose because i went to georgia tech, people think i care. but really, i'd rather go to the dentist office than watch or talk football.
oh, and this:
now i have red stripes on the back of my leg
